Mallard ducks, drake and two hens with swimming Mute swan in icy pond
Mute swan swimming with Mallard ducks (one drake, two hens) in ice covered pond with snow and rushes, winter scenic birds. We do have occaissional Mute swans in Maine and certainly plenty of mallards. Mute swans are an invasive species introduced from Europe. They are very aggressive competing for nesting places and food with native birds. They will even attack kayakers and canoers! They are lovely to behold, though.
