I’m on a boat!
This morning we hoofed it to a place called Bacco Cafe for a quick brunch before the van company picked us up at the hotel. Getting loaded up was pretty painless. Some dudes came and took our bags, we went through a MUCH milder security checkpoint compared to airports, they took our pictures and gave us cards and maps, and we were good to go! We found our rooms without a hitch–Emily’s and my door had balloons and stuff for her birthday–and then we got to explore!
I’ve gotta say that ship is amazing. It’s not our style at all, but it’s definitely well done and gorgeous. The first annoying thing to jump out at me was the staff trying to sell us on all their services as soon as we got on the boat. Suddenly I NEED some laser skin treatments and a private steam room, a massage, and haircut, and some Effy jewelry, whatever THAT is. I can definitely see how there will be some cheese factor to this trip, but it also seems like it’s gonna be a ton of fun.
After the initial Muster session (or whatever?) where they taught us how to put on a life jacket, Cameron and I got our hairs cut first thing. He basically got the sides of his head shaved, while I got my beared cleaned up. Did I mention it’s been about a week since I shaved? Whoops.
Within the span of an hour, the ship cruised into a dense cloud. I took two photos an hour apart and it’s like a sea of fog washed everything away. I guess that kind of thing will happen sometimes. Anyway, we’re all super excited about this trip! It’s gonna be nuts.
