Michael Werbicki commented, "This is one of 3 hazy photos of a trip to the outskirts of Shaw, I think from 1974. Four or five of us piled into George Young's Mini van from Manchester on a Saturday at the invitation of Lester Shaw, a farmer's son and student at Medlock in the year below ours. Lester was born and bred in the area and managed to get us into a social club which was licensed all day, had numerous snooker tables and sold delicious meat pies. The guy Marc, in the white flares, was also in Lester's year and his parents lived in the area. He took us to a local pub in the evening that sold real ales of dubious quality or perhaps I had not acquired the taste for them yet. I don't know who's camera was used, but the shots were mainly taken by George Young and Martyn Hope, so they can be blamed for the poor quality."
