Swiftwater Covered Bridge No. 29

This is the Swiftwater Covered Bridge in Bath, NH. No.29. It crosses over the Wild Ammonoosuc River, and sits above a 15 foot cascade called Swiftwater Falls. The bridge is a Paddleford truss design, 158 feet long and 21 feet wide. This is the fourth covered bridge at this location. The first was built in 1810, which carried away in 1818 by high rising waters, and the second was destroyed by another flood in 1828. A third covered bridge was erected in 1829, which was dismantled in 1849 and replaced with this one. This was taken in early autumn of 2012.
