Newtown Hook & Ladder volunteer firefighters responded to a two-vehicle accident about 5:27 pm on April 4 at the intersection of Schoolhouse Hill Road and Edmond Road, near an Interstate 84 overpass. Firefighters extricated a motorist from a vehicle involved in the collision. Police said that motorist Ferdinand J. Metzger III, 31, of Bellevue, Nev., who was driving a 2006 Scion sedan, pulled out of a commercial driveway and then collided with motorist Teresa Dahlmeyer, 29, of 15 Sunnyview Terrace, who was driving a 2003 Pontiac Aztek SUV. Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps members transported Dahlmeyer to Danbury Hospital to be treated for injuries, police said. Police said they issued Metzger an infraction for failure to grant the right of way and for failure to carry an automotive insurance identification card. (Gorosko photo)
