Thanks to all who took the time to comment on yesterday's collage of Weather Channel screen shots of bad weather.  Unfortunately for some of you who live in the south, you were the ones getting hit by tornado-spawning weather, if not actual tornados.  Hope you're all safe.

D105-2013 Scilla (genus and common name) or Squill.
This early blooming bulb has many species, some of them wild, and native to Europe and Asia.  It is commonly planted in the USA, but naturalizes readily, as most homeowners who have ever planted it can attest.  They prefer some shade, which is where I found these.  Those conditions may not be conducive to capturing the inherent sparkle in the petals, but do allow better saturation of the colors while avoiding blow-out of the white centers.  Whole yards full of scilla can now, finally, be seen as I drive around town.
