January 19, 2013 - After recovering from a bout with the flu, I decided to venture outside and participate in a snowshoe hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. The destinations for today's hike were three lakes: Nymph Lake, Dream Lake, and finally Emerald Lake. The hike was fantastic, despite the fact that I discovered all too quickly that I'm not quite in condition to hike at this altitude. At any rate, the temperatures were mild for the day, and it was a beautiful day to hike. This is a shot I took looking over Dream Lake. The large mountain to in the center is known as Hallett's Peak. It is located on the Continental Divide and its peak is at 12,700 ft. Believe it or not, there is a trail that novice hikers can follow to get to the peak of Hallett's Peak! Maybe another day.
