Winter bling - the cold fire of sparkling fresh snow (sc 2017-12-15)
D348-2017 Long shadows on the snow.
As we creep toward the winter solstice, the sun lies low in the south all day, and long shadows are the norm.
One day after a major snow storm, the weather turned extremely cold (high temperature in single digits Fahrenheit), but bright and sunny. The new snow was powdery and full of sparkle. Viewed at largest zoom, in close-ups, the snow could be seen to have a high percentage of hexagonal flat flakes, which gave off the brightest reflections or sparkles.
