The only way to cross The Lake is over the Bow Bridge, almost as famous as the Angel of the Waters here in Central Park. It is a popular location for wedding photos and maybe some even some first dates…

It’s elegant curves, in its arch, railing details, planters and even the wooden walkway’s surface is bowed slightly, all give the bridge a very organic feel when you are on it or looking at it from the paths that line The Lake. Olmstead and Vaux designed Central Park as a series of scenic views, and the Bow Bridge is one of these park elements that both provides these views and is a main focal point for others.

I wasn’t in the bushes here, there is actually a great spot just off the main path to stop and look at the bridge with the layer of residential buildings on Central Park West in the background…
