Skagway and the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad
Two steam locomotives push a steam powered rotary plow through the deep snow on route from Skagway, AK to Bennett BC. This is the White Pass and Yukon route and the snow needs to be cleared to allow for the first tourist trains of the season. This is very likely the only place in the world that you can still see a working rotary snow plow pushed by steam locomotives. Lots more at: www.steamengines.ca

These stone pilings are called inukshuk. They were used by native peoples in the Arctic for various reasons (as navigation aids or to mark a place of importance...). Some are built in the shape of people (the logo designed for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics was based on one). I believe the ones pictured here were mostly built by hikers and tourists.
