Ray of Light
A summer warm spruce and pine forest holds a particular scent that always brings me back to the lonely forests in northern Sweden. The only sound is the occasional bug in the air - even the mosquitoes give up in the direct heat from the sun. I remember the clearing like this but the camera only captures reality. To make the photo look like I knew I would remeber it I tilted the camera slightly against the sun to let in false light. The rays are halos produced by light entering the lens from the side instead of from the front as it is supposed to. In some ways it mimics the way I would actually see the scene because I too would have some sunrays enter my eye sideways, squint and get visual distortions when looking against the light.
