Watchful Eye: Good morning - Thank you all for you comments on yesterday's billiards shot. (A little foot note about the hat: My 6 year old daughter picked out that hat for me to wear when I shoot, so I honored her request and faithfully wear it every Thursday night). Today's shot: This is a squirrel who followed me around for nearly two hours while I was taking pictures of the family, ice skating in Boston. He was always within 10 feet of me. It was weird. I'll post a couple of more skating shot tomorrow and Thursday.

Patience isn't a trait associated with squirrels. I think that's why this one's air of seeming resignation appealed to me.

Fox squirrel, Sciurus niger. The most common squirrel around these parts. Also the largest and most enterprising when it comes to trying to get onto and even into our bird feeders. This one was on a branch of an oak tree that stands 15-20 feet off the rear deck that's on the top floor (of three floors) of the house, waiting for me to leave the premises. Earlier it had been displaying and scolding me, but it soon saw that had no effect.

Squirrel beside the lily pond, that is, Beaver Lake, in Stanley Park.
Roaming free, the Wild Squirrel (also known as the Chupacabritolensis) almost killed me... Luckily, a nut caught his attention and saved my life. It was too close.
