16 May 13. It being Theatrical Thursday and the season for blue poppies, I thought I'd combine the two and go with a stylized blue poppy. For those of you who want to shoot them, now is the time, and a visit to the RSBG if you live in the greater Puget Sound area, might be in order. Blue Poppy Day is this Saturday, the 18th, so they should be in good shape about now. My shot was taken in our yard where we have started our blue poppy garden with one plant, more to be added annually. I've enhanced it with my favorite filter a bit just for fun, so know that the flowers you might go shoot won't look exactly like this one. The enhancement however is very slight, so the difference will be small. Now that I'm aware of them, it seems like a lot of nurseries have them for sale, something I hadn't been aware of until this year. Likely its a bit like buying a new car; you don't see all that many of your model on the road until you buy yours, and then they are everywhere. D300s; 18 - 200; Aperture Priority; ISO 200; 1/60 sec @ f/14 with fill flash.
