Just Not Right
Sept 6th, 2015: Quinn and I took a mini road trip out to Manchester to see what things we could see. Out there in the wilderness, we stopped at Hunt's Photo and Video, one of the few camera stores still operating in brick and mortar in New England. We spent nearly two hours talking with Marc about lenses, upcoming camera rumors and the D810 (which I have been considering upgrading to since the day it was released.)
Since 2002, I have been shooting DX format, but recently felt the need to move into the FX realm and the D810 offers the best of both worlds. I could still use my 18-200 DX lens for the everyday stuff and gain a massive number of pixels over my current D300, while also being able to transform my 105mm Macro lens into a whopping 36 mega-pixal close-up beast in full FX-Mode.
All the while we were there however, I kept thinking how I really should be taking this beautiful day and catching up on the #meridianchallenge subjects that I've been ignoring while life passes by. Yep, this shot was taken with my DX lens with the D810. The only adjustment made was a very small resize (and a correction of date shot to the naming convention, because the camera date was about a year off.) Otherwise, straight out of the camera.
Really, I'm not a loincloth-wearing shutterbug and for a moment, this image just looked ' not #right '
Oh yeah: HUGE shout out to Marcus and the crew at Hunt's Photo and Video in Manchester for making the dream a reality. They offered very competitive trade-in values for all the equipment I needed to get rid of and made it happen! I never felt like I was being pressured into buying and the customer service was top of the scale. I can't say enough about these guys. If you're thinking of buying something and can make the trip. Go see them.
There's a whole lot more coming to catch up on a week of sheer laziness (or was it more that I wanted to spend time with the boys this last week before school starts) - either way, the blitz of images starts with this one and in the process, we'll be posting some treasures from a day out with Mr. Quinn: Manch-Vegas and Port-City Edition!
