Lightning Over The Bells
Lightning cuts through the darkness of thick storm clouds and heavy rain just after sunset in the Maroon Bells Wilderness near Aspen, Colorado. The strike hit the ridgeline behind the peaks, but another finger of electricity can be seen rising from the top of North Maroon Peak. Nearly twice a minute a strike would land to the North or South of Maroon Lake, just out of frame. Immediately following every bolt came a reminder of the raw power of nature in the form of an Earth-trembling thunder clap that could be felt down to the bone. *Editing to this image included desaturating the blues from the left side and magenta from the right to even out the white balance. Also a light dodging of the forground and burning in the skies.
