Liberty Belle nose detail
The Liberty Belle was a Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress which was operated by the Liberty Foundation, touring the country as a historic warbird. Although four wartime aircraft had used the name, this particular plane did not see combat.
After the original airframe had been severely damaged in a tornado in Connecticut in 1979, a restoration project which began in 1992 rebuilt one flying craft from two planes. Liberty Belle toured the air show circuit from 2004-2011, when it was destroyed in a fire after an emergency landing in Illinois.
In this shot detailing the bombadier's station, the USAF Thunderbirds are performing a manuver in the skies above the aircraft.
