Boston Ivy Lace
D305-2014 Ivy, when it loses its leaves in the fall, looks like lace or embroidery on the stone, wood, or brick faces it adorns.
Look closely at the leafless vines. You'll see thousands of indigo blue berries and reddish pink leaf stems. Those stems are there only briefly. They'll be gone soon. I'm not sure how long the berries will last, or whether birds eat them.
Look closely too at the ornamental chisel work on the white limestone (?) stones at the edges of the two protruding features that frame the ivy.
It really is amazing what I see when I look at my photos is fine detail. Things I certainly didn't see when I took the photos.
