This is the Shanghai Confucian Temple, also known as the Wen Miao Temple. It doesn’t get a lot of attention is English guidebooks that I have seen, but it is fantastic. It is a little slice of serenity in a busy downtown. For this shot, I had the composition I wanted, but I didn’t quite like the way it looked. I thought a lot of the details were distracting. So I smoothed out the details (with a similar process we do for models) to allow the viewer to focus on the pathway leading to this beautiful temple.
