"AMANDLA FIST" (2009)
Silence is golden, right? “Fools multiply when wise men are silent.” ~ Nelson Mandela

Collection of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
This is the second of two exhibits. "This exhibit allows visitors to experience locations that played an integral role in South Africa’s path to racial equality and President Mandela’s personal fight for freedom. Visitors will be able to step into a recreation of the eight-by-seven-foot prison cell that Nelson Mandela was sentenced to live in for 18 of his 27 years in captivity, which visually demonstrates the harsh reality to which he was confined."
"Mandela: The Journey to Ubuntu"tells the story of a young South African boy who became a man prepared to die in the name of equality, justice, and freedom, and, then, the President who led his country out of Apartheid. This exhibit takes Clinton Center visitors along the arc of President Mandela’s life through the camera lens of Nelson Mandela Foundation-commissioned photographer, Matthew Willman. Visitors will experience the places and moments that played an integral role in President Mandela and South Africa’s journey to Ubuntu, a word that evokes the oneness of humanity. "Mandela: The Journey to Ubuntu" is presented by the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center."
Have a be-you-tiful day!
