'Ducks in Khonsu's tomb at Luxor.'
A ceiling in a passageway in Khonsu's tomb shows a flock of ducks flying over their nests and clumps of poppies. Several locusts are present as well.
Khonsu (also known as To or Ta) was a 19th dynasty "High-priest of Menkheper-re" (Thutmosis III) and was probably attached tot this pharaoh's mortuary temple on the west bank at Luxor. He held this function during the reign of Ramses II. He also held the function of high-priest of the war god Montu. His tomb (TT 31) is located in the Sheikh Abd el Qurnah Necropolis on the Westbank at Luxor and is one of the socalled "Tombs of the Nobles". Photo Mick Palarczyk and Paul Smit.
