At the end of a long afternoon run around Broken Top Peak in the Central Oregon Cascades, I came across this beautiful meadow of Mountain Heather. The angle of the late afternoon light gave the pink and purple flowers a special glow which complemented the greens in the middle ground very nicely. Despite being thirsty and sunburned, I spent over an hour working this scene. As clouds danced over the distant peaks of Middle and North Sister, I found this arrangement of layered color. To maintain an even exposure throughout, I hand held a 2 stop reverse grad over the bright peaks.
