Cpl Lee Matthews, aged 30, has been a serving Royal Air Force photographer for over ten years. Before joining up he attended Rose Hill School before moving onto Cirencester Kingshill School. He went on to study photography at Cirencester College before leaving to join the Royal Air Force.
Before Aldergrove, Cpl Matthews has enjoyed postings at the Joint Information Activities Group (JIAG), the RAF Mobile News Team (MNT), RAF Henlow and DCAE Cosford.
Cpl Matthews enjoys spending time with wife Lauren and two children Angel (5) and Ariah (1) along with photography in his own time, aviation, American Football and anything movie related.
With the ever advancing technology in the world of imagery it may surprise many to learn that the RAF still operates a wet film lab within the service.
Despite shooting negative films via an aircraft camera pod, the negatives are still digitally interpreted hence this fusion of old and new, of film and digital. This fusion of technology I wanted to re-present in an image, and thus created this image merging film and digital.
