5-23-13. Purple Martin feeding a Dragonfly to Hungry Chicks. Gainesville, Florida. 2013.

This is a Purple Martin House that was erected by members of the Alachua County Audubon Society. It's located on a busy street, next to a creek, a sandwich shop and health food store. The traffic doesn't seem to bother the martins in the slightest! I watched a pair of adults take turns bringing back treats for their chicks. On the other side of the house, there were at least 2 adults sitting on nests while their mates brought them food. All in all, a very busy morning!
