Carved in Sand This sunset shot was taken on Okaloosa Island in Northwest Florida. Larger than normal waves had been battering the shore for several days carving away it's own footprint in the sand.

5-23-13. Purple Martin feeding a Dragonfly to Hungry Chicks. Gainesville, Florida. 2013. This is a Purple Martin House that was erected by members of the Alachua County Audubon Society. It's located on a busy street, next to a creek, a sandwich shop and health food store. The traffic doesn't seem to bother the martins in the slightest! I watched a pair of adults take turns bringing back treats for their chicks. On the other side of the house, there were at least 2 adults sitting on nests while their mates brought them food. All in all, a very busy morning!
