Hot Spot For any of you that have driven up Big Cottonwood canyon this is a hot spot. About mid way there is a parking lot for Donut Falls Trail. 6am, 5 degrees no wind, no cars no one. Perfect. Waiting for color to appear and keeping my head off the cold I thought of all the times I drove up this canyon. Not seeing anything being caught in myself or sometimes seeing it all. Interesting every time I have returned I am different as it is. Maybe that's why we adventure out doors. It could be the one place where we can cut out the clutter and be who we've always been? After the color was gone I moved back from the creek and shot the dog wood. Just when you think its gone... take a second look. Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah

This is a view of the South West end of Rattlesnake Lake. I just love the mist on the water and it comes out best with HDR. Another photographer nearby had a filter, but I don't have one so HDR it is if I want the darks to show up against the brighter sky. For this picture I climbed up on a very large, overturned stump and shot without a tripod. I was able to rest my elbows on part of the stump for stability.
