This creature put me in the mind of The Hobbit. Perhaps this is Bullroarer Took, a historical figure mentioned as Bilbo Baggins' great great grand-uncle. According to the story, Bullroarer led the defense against the goblins of Mount Gram and is purported to have knocked the goblin leader Golfimbul's head off with a blow from his club, sending it flying into a rabbit hole and thereby inventing the sport of golf.
I can remember reading and enjoying "The Hobbit" in college and in later years I loved reading the "Lord of the Rings", "The Fellowship of the Rings," "The Two Towers," and "The Return of the King" - I read each twice, and have seen all of the movies.
This fun little fellow was seen in one of the drainage pipes at the Gold King Mine in Jerome, Arizona. I loved it! What a whimsical find.
Thank you for your comments and critiques.
Have a fanciful day today my friends!
