Autumn Wasp Orchid [Chilogottis reflexa]
Photo: Lyn Harwood, Gipsy Point
Flowering time: February to July, rarely to September
Habitat: Widespread and common across East Gippsland mainly near coastal areas, favours sandy soils in open forest and heathland usually near bracken fern.
Notes: Very common in some areas with a carpet of leaves extending for some distance, but occasionally sparse at other sites and often without a flower in site; can be stimulated by fore in the previous year, then a mass flowering can occur.
