Craigievar Castle Daffodils-5160036
D137-2013 Tall old pink dogwood, probably nearing the end of its life.
This one stands in the northeast corner of the cemetery, not far from the May family vault. If you look closely you can see the broken ends of branches near the top of the tree that were torn away from larger limbs during a bad ice storm this past winter.

Rising even higher into the sky, behind the dogwood, are the upper branches of a venerable redbud tree (its trunk is the one furthest right in this shot).

D137-2013 Looking east along the Laurel Ridge Trail.
Typically only a few rhoodendrons, and none of the azaleas, are in bloom when the redbud trees are at their peak bloom. A few wildflowers are also in bloom along the trail.
