Cold Morning at Horseshoe Bend on the North Saskatchewan
My first photo of 2015! It's a cold -25 degree morning in Edmonton and the snow has just stopped falling. I set up the tripod and took about six photos early this morning - too cold to take many more! My shutter release cable was frozen stiff!
This is one of the more interesting views of the North Saskatchewan River. There is a steep (and not particularly stable) bank just ahead. In the summer you can see kayaks moving along this bend in the North Saskatchewan. In the 1980s the first Canadian Birkebeiner ski events followed this stretch of the river. Terwillegar park is to the left and the Fort Edmonton footbridge to the right.
