"THE WELCH FAMILY'S TREE HOUSE"

To make a long story short, this Victorian-style treehouse for children used to be under threat of being torn down by the city of Clinton, MS. The controversy stemmed from the treehouse being in the family's front yard and violating the city's zoning ordinance (the "Ordinance"). The Welch's claimed that the Ordinance was not clear, did not prohibit their tree house, and - in any case - did not apply to their tree house, since they had permission from the City of Clinton to build it. The case made it all the way to the Supreme Court. In the end, the Welch Family won the court case and the treehouse remains.
