This is a photo taken inside the Stokely Event Center in Tulsa, OK during an recent event I attended. Ever since I became aware of this event center, I’ve hoped to someday be part of a group holding an event here so I could photograph some of their eclectic collection of old neon & porcelain signs. As luck would have it, I was part of a group that recently had an event here, so decided I’d share some of their signs with the Smugmug daily group. This is the first.
The Stokely Event Center, is a showcase for a 30- year collection of neon and porcelain signs. It is owned, operated by and housed in a former workshop of one of Tulsa’s foremost outdoor advertising companies, Stokely Outdoor Advertising, a family-owned outdoor advertising company with painted, lighted and electronic billboard locations in numerous locations around Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas.
It’s a popular site for a variety of corporate and private functions of all kinds in Tulsa. As you can see here, it’s loaded with their collection of old neon & porcelain signs. They also have several large outdoor neon signs around the exterior of the property, most of which are turned on only for special events.
