Specimen American beech, partially denuded of leaves
On the left is a large American beech with large sections bare branched from having dropped their leaves, while the remainder of the tree still bears not only leaves but a good crop of nuts. In my experience, not every mature beech tree bears nuts every year, but this seemed to be a bumper year for this particular tree.
