Snowy Egret, Chincoteague NWR, VA, 5-17-13
Snowy Egrets, plus other birds can be seen in a feeding frenzy by the dozens. A spontaneous surge of excitement causes the birds to rush about (back and forth) in a sometimes small area of water catching or missing their prey. These two snowy egrets seem to be neck and neck in a dead heat to the finish line. The frenzy can last about 20 minutes until they fly off one by one. No egrets, sorry about that :).
