At sunrise a female Ostrich (Struthio camelus) comes over the dunes of the dryAuob river, Kagalagadi Transfrontier Park, South Africa. Biology Note:- The ostrich's sternum is flat, lacking the keel to which wing muscles attach in flying birds. They can run up to 70 km/h, the fastest land speed of any bird.The feathers lack the tiny hooks that lock together the smooth external feathers of flying birds, and so are soft and fluffy and serve as insulation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ostrich
