Floating Away: As part of our night spent in a hill tribe village in Thailand, we lit and let these lanterns float away into the sky. One of the villagers told me about a festival that happens every year in Chiang Mai, where tens of thousands of sky lanterns are released. He said it looks like the starriest night you've ever seen. According to Thai people, these lanterns are symbolic of troubles and worries floating away—and that's exactly how it felt.
