Koh Phi Phi City Street - Ao Ton Sai, Thailand | Koh Phi Phi, Thailand HDR Photography
While it might not look like it, I woke up at dawn to get some photos of Ao Ton Sai, the pier town on the island of Koh Phi Phi, Thailand. This is around 6:30am and by 8am, this street will be literally filled with travelers, vendors, locals, and the occasional dog and kitty.

In truth, while this looks pretty cool, I did not like this town much. Its just TOO MUCH and hard to escape if you're staying nearby. While Koh Phi Phi is very pretty in some places, its very overrun, quite small and in order to get away from everyone, you must book accommodations on the northwest side of the island. That side is beautiful. The main town, not so much.

Here is a GREAT rule for Thai islands:
When you arrive at the pier, get a map. Find the spot furthest from the pier. Head there. Its always prettiest as far from the pier as possible.

That'll be $5. :-)
