Like many parts of the Twin Cities these last few years, the tree canopy of Powderhorn Park has changed. Violent storms have knocked trees down, and bit by bit Dutch Elm disease and the Emerald Ash Borer are taking more. This winter I noticed many orange striped trees, indicating Dutch Elm disease. This tree has been one of my favorites, because it becomes so dramatically different looking depending on how you look at it. Marked to be cut down. Let's enjoy it while we can.
