The spider at the gates of the old Citadel
On our way East we stopped in St. Paul, VA for some lunch at Pizza Plus and ended up missing a westbound. After Lunch we continued east and ended up catching and overtaking the train we had seen at Coeburn. That train had evidently stopped to get Pushers as well as pass the Westbound we missed at lunch. So we decided this would be a good chance to catch a train coming out of the neat Honaker Tunnel that is just bored straight through rock and does not have a concrete face. Here is a Shot of the tunnel.
A Headlight appears in the Tunnel as mother nature decides to start snowing again.
The only way to get through the walls and in to the ancient city of Dali is through one of four tunnels at either gate. I expect this made it difficult to conquer. This shot is of the south gate tunnel. The tunnel almost points you towards the temple pagoda that sits in the centre of old town. All images creative commons non commercial
