Virginia City Angel
Virginia City sits right in the heart of the old Comstock Silver Rush and prospered in the 1860s. It is considered to be one of the oldest established communities in the state of Nevada. The town is now a National Historic Landmark and is a lot of fun to visit, but one of the most interesting things in the town is actually the cemetery. The cemetery is walking distance from the down town and has grave sites of many old settlers, minors and inhabitance of Virginia City. This headstone is one of the many interesting and beautiful that can be found here.
Repeating Patterns and Color -American Flats
This is one of the main buildings in historic American Flats, which is located near Virginia City Nevada. The site was an old ore processing facility for the booming mining industry that sprang up all through the Virginia Range during the early 1900s. More recently it has become a hangout for teens, a challenging paintball ground and a favorite for photographers. BLM has been threatening to tear it down for several years, but lack the funding. It should be noted, this is a very dangerous place, lots of old crumbling multi-storied concrete buildings and deep holes – watch your step if you go there.

Decatur Transfer House

The Scene: July 4, 1940 in downtown Decatur, Illinois. The Decatur Transfer House is a National Landmark and typifies Midwest Life at the time depicted. Seven base photographs were used to generate the seven main subjects: Decatur Transfer House, three background building sets, and three 1940's modes of transportation linked directly to the Transfer House at that time. Note the Bus, Trolley, and of course the 1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible - all authentic to the time. In addition, seven U.S. Flags adorn the setting, the date can be seen on the Trolley, and Donna's Name is on the license plate of the 'Vert.

The illustration was commissioned by Bob and Connie Wiley as a Christmas Gift for Connie's sister Donna Collins who resides in Indy.

Just another Crappy Tahoe Sunrise
A late fall morning on the way into Tahoe I was greeted by yet another spectacular sunrise. I headed directly to the beach to find a good vantage point for my shooting. As I started taking photos, I heard someone walk behind me and say ‘Just another crappy Tahoe sunrise’. Then he pulled out a camera and started shooting.
Many Years of Fall
On a recent trip to Hope Valley California to capture fall color I found this hollowed out stump that had layers of aspen leaves collected in it from many years. I was struck by the texture and shapes and how the new colored leaves contrasted with the older leaves from past years.

The Streaked Wall
While in Zion National Park on January 1st of 2005 I spotted these climbers on The Streaked Wall. I have done a little rock climbing in my day, but this big wall stuff takes a real driven person.
