It’s not the worlds’s biggest ball of twine. However it is “the tallest structure in the western hemisphere, and the tallest radio mast in the world.” Topping out at a dizzying 2063-feet, it was definitly a must-do, BBOT great adventure photo op. Both this and the Minuteman Missile site were easy kills on the BBOT list, as they were only minutes from the work site in remote North Dakota. Gotta love it when the BBOT attractions find me! The easy access and intriguing aspect/challenge of this tower had me wondering…have any rogue BASE Jumpers added this site to their list and if not, why?! The enormous guy-wire anchors and turnbuckles required to hold the tower in place were mega impressive in their own right.
When completed in 1963, it was the tallest structure in the world. Dubai’s Khalifa now holds the height record.
