W is for Watermelon
I am back to the full-colour fruit here and rue the day they invented these silly watermelons with (few or) no pips. I so wanted to get that really black pip look within the red flesh. But of course, everyone wants the seedless ones, so that's what they stock these days! So much for that!
There are a
couple of alternatives with
different lighting and
angles and of course, the obligatory
matching melon shot.
And, someone has to say it, so here goes:
'Watermelon sucks at being backlit!'
It ends up looking overripe like it does when you leave it in the fridge for too long, and this one was definitely very crispy as it should be. It's totally not what I expected. I thought it would glow beautifully, but I guess that the combination of thin fruit and all that red makes the colour terribly difficult to deal with.
