TexRandall3_070712 At 47-feet tall and weighing in at 7 tons, Tex Randall is touted as the state "Biggest Texan." Tex was built in 1959 by Harry Wheeler to promote his western curio shop along US Highway 60 in Canyon, Texas. Constructed of concrete, wire mesh, rebar and structural support pipes, Tex has withstood west Texas winds of over 100 mph. He originally wore real denim jeans, a red checkered shirt and casually held a cigarette in one hand as he overlooked traffic along the highway. Canyon Main Street organizers are currently collecting fund to restore Tex to his former glory in a "Cowboy Up, Help Save Tex" champaign. ©2012 Michael Schumacher
