My wife and my daughter love to do something called „Western Riding“ in their spare time. I must admit that I have no idea about this sport and I know nothing about horses (I prefer to walk up the mountains … lol). More or less it is all about how to treat and work with horses like the cowboys in the USA! And indeed, this sort of riding is coming exactly from the USA. Anyway, two weeks ago I had the great pleasure to photograph the family of the riding instructor of my wife. It was a Family-Shooting! But the best was, that after the family-shooting the instructor Frauke Matter asked me, if I wanted to take some photos of her stallion „Cholito“ in action!!!! Ohhhhhhh wooooooow!!!! "YES PLEASE!!!!" was my answer!!!! And believe me, it was damn difficult. The sun was getting down and in the hall the light conditions were not the best. And to make it more interesting, I was not allowed to use a flash, only to not frighten the stallion!
This photo here was taken with an ISO-value of 100. And it is also the only one with such a low ISO value. The light was getting worse, so I had no choice but to set the shutter speed as high as possible and to set the ISO value to 1’000. In this way I could freeze all the movements of the horse!
