Relief -- White Mountains, Mono County, CA
November 10, 2012
“An early winter storm clears in the Owens Valley but still enshrouds the monarch of the White Mountains -- the 14,252 foot White Mountain Peak. The layers and textures of this canyon in the soft light along with the slow gradation of the snow line are what drew me to this composition.”
- Jeff Swanson
This photograph was taken during Jeff’s first solo weekend trip since his melanoma diagnosis earlier in 2012 and his intensely miserable surgery and rounds of treatment that summer. A true f/it trip, if there ever was one. This image, and the few others he produced that weekend, represents his unbelievable resilience, strength, passion, and badassery. It’s shots like this that kept him moving forward.
