Father and Son Sapsuckers
A male Williamson's Sapsucker feeds his young. I very rarely take photos of chicks at a nest, and never do if I cannot do so at a safe enough distance to avoid disturbing the nest. For this image I was set up behind a blind of aspen trees and used my 300 F4 with a 1.4 teleconverter on my D70 which adds a 1.5 crop factor, i.e. like using a 630 mm lens on a full-frame camera. Even with that magnification I still had to crop this one a bit too far, let me know if you think it held up sufficiently.
