The eldest of the Wynn family's roots began when the senior Wynns owned a grocery store in Lakeland, Florida. Their son, Don, was about to go off to war in 1942 but stopped to visit his mother and father in Naples. His parents purchased the Bayview Inn which was a small hotel in Crayton cove.
Don was not impressed with his visit to Naples and thought it was a terrible looking place. He told his father he could sell the store and he would never live in Naples.
He changed his mind upon returning to Naples after the war to help his parents. The fishing and hunting were wonderful, not to mention he met his future wife, Anne Merle Echols whom he married in 1945..
Don took over the grocery store and in 1948 moved it to Fifth Avenue south into Suprex Market, the first grocery store now known as Wynn's Family Market.
