yellow billed kite

Yellow-billed Kite. It was sitting on the railing at the bridge to Oliphants in Kruger's. I decided to take head and shoulder shots to avoid the railing.

I had a handful of awful shots of this bird - he was flying against a super bright white sky and the bird was slightly underexposed, luckily it is better to UNDER expose with NIkon vs better to OVER expose with Canon (so I learned from Albert Froneman, our workshop leader). I nearly deleted this in camera since the bird looked dark - now I'm glad I didn't since the focus was actually pretty good! I was able to bring out a lot of the details in the under wings in photoshop.

I added a cloud texture just for fun since the background was so boring.
