What a day! Andy and I made it to NYC today after a short, enjoyable flight. It's been awhile since we flew directly to a place without stopping somewhere else first. It's nice! We went straight to Mike's place and chatted with him and Bill about how this week is going down. It sounds like we're gonna have a good time.
As luck would have it, Snarky Puppy played a gig tonight at the Watermark in Lower Manhattan. Beautiful venue. It's too bad the sound wasn't great and they only had two crappy beers available. It was a dude-bro bar in an otherwise classy joint, right on the water. It was the perfect way to start our trip here though. No doubt about that.
After the show, most of the guys were out, so Andy and I met up with a local friend of his who helped start a lot of bars around town. We basically ended up crawling across all his bars, eventually ending up at the meatball place next to the Rockwood Music Hall. If you're ever in NYC, go there! Great food, cool vibe, and they have a TASTY whiskey shake too.
