SmugMug > popular > Landscapes > During the evening, ponds in Alaska take on an unreal feeling of stillness. Dusk in the far north brings calm, such total tranquility. Lakes assume a full mirror surface. It must be experienced. My photos can do this no justice.

In fact, it is almost humbling trying to capture a scene like this!

I was driving along with this marvelous sky in front of me. My head was spinning; I need a subject, omg give me something to shoot with this sky. I saw this little church a bit remote from the road so I took the turn on 2 wheels at this country road, ran out of the car, set-up the tripod. Sh... the car is in the way, run to back it up and got this. The sun was rising fast on top of the hill but I think that it is not too distracting. Happy Sunday --JY
