SmugMug > popular > Other > buddy 125 scooter (detail) 08/09/08 this is my neighbor's scooter again. we've had some rain and i thought the dirt showing the slipstream patterns by the seat pedestal quite interesting, also how clean and shiny the rear stayed. i enjoy sculpture and design of all kinds. thank you all again so much for your kind words and support. i can't find words (or a pic either) to express my appreciation. bless you all
SmugMug > popular > Other > March 12, 2008 You Never Know Who is Watching It is officially springtime around here. Yesterday afternoon I saw a cardinal fly out of one of our vines and thought it would be so neat to find a nest and watch for babies. We've enjoyed several generations in the past few years but never have seen them until they ventured down to the feeder. Very carefully I poked my head into the bushes and started looking, trying not to disturb anything I might find. As I leaned back to move to another area, this is what I saw. Not one, but three ribbon snakes, and they were about 18 inches above where my head had been. (I still can't believe that I didn't jump and scream. What WAS I thinking?) They even had the good manners to sit and wait for me to get the camera, switch to the macro lens, and come back outside. I took about a dozen photos with different settings before they decided they'd had enough and slipped away. I'm sure I'll see them again but probably not all at one time like this. If there was a bird nest in this area, I'm afraid the outlook for babies is not so good. Maybe the bird was just resting and will find a better place to raise a family. I certainly hope so.
SmugMug > popular > Other > thistle flowers 07/25/08 i love thistle flowers but find them hard to get because they're so fleeting. the day these were prime my enregy and the light were no good and by the time i got back they're already past it. i still like them tho. posting early and straight to bed so can finally go to work tomorrow, sure hope i can make a whole shift as they need me pretty badly
SmugMug > popular > Other > purple iris 07/14/08 everything's been blooming late this year; actually just bloomed a lot longer than the usual season i guess as we've had "spring" flowers since april. this is the lone iris i know of around town and i loved the dark color so i ahd to try a shot. have been really enjoying catching up on the great pics and interesting commentary this week-end. i'm done in now tho so off to bed, this darn cold is slowly easing its grip and going away. i'm being extra careful to sleep more than usual to keep that trend going
SmugMug > popular > Other > daisy plus 07/09/08 i liked this daisy with the buttercups behind it. the buttercups were growing over two feet off of the ground, perhaps the longest stems on buttercups i've ever seen, and the daisy was close to three feet tall
